As part of Traffic Month and Pongal / Sankranthi Festival Safety Initiatives, the Visakhapatnam City Security Council (VCSC), in coordination with the Traffic Police, conducted a two-day Sankranthi Special Traffic Awareness Drive across key city locations.
The drive was carried out under the guidance of Shri Bala Satish, Joint Secretary – Traffic Forum, VCSC, with active on-ground participation from VCSC members, Traffic Police, RTA officials, Local Police, and Red Cross volunteers.
High-visibility awareness programs were conducted at Maddilapalem and Hanumanthavaka Junction, ensuring maximum public engagement during peak festival travel.
Key focus areas included:
Symbolic safety bands were tied to commuters violating traffic rules to reinforce awareness, while the Traffic Police simultaneously carried out enforcement where required.
Live public announcements highlighted Sankranthi-specific safety precautions, encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly.
VCSC remains committed to safer roads and responsible celebrations in Visakhapatnam.
